Someone told me that 50% of people just don’t have internal
monologues. They don’t silently analyze and re-analyze conversations that
happened just moments ago. They don’t wake up crying, scared that everything
they’ve lived and known about themselves just may not be true. They don’t
berate themselves in the middle of interviews or first dates. They don’t rehearse
arguments days after they’ve transpired, while shampooing furiously all alone
in the shower. Those poor poor souls. It must be so terribly mind numbing to
just wake up in the morning, sit on your front porch with a wide brimmed hat,
drink tea and wait for the Roadrunner to visit the birdfeeder. It must be so
terribly boring, to just listen to the leaves rustle in the wind, without those
kind and helpful reminders of mediocrity. The silence must be deafening, I’m
sure.
