Even though many of these Christmas traditions fly right over my desi frizzy-haired head, I feel like this need to surround oneself with people isn't cultural
it's human
there's something so satisfying in a stranger's smile or a smirk from the cool girl who you thought you really didn't like
Every single relationship you have with someone other than yourself, is transient. I want to be able to love without attachments, without desires. That's why these present-giving, party-throwing, label-giving consumerist traditions leave me questioning the meaning of modern day Christmas, and modern day Diwali, and birthdays and bat mitzvahs

So this Christmas, after you open your presents take the time to read something like this

and lemme know if you wanna donate a swell bottle to the culturally confused desi girl fund
