"If a tree falls in a forest but nobody's there to hear it, does it make a sound?"
If a song is never sung, is it actually a song?
Are you actually singing, if no one is there to listen?
Do your words mean anything at all, if you are the only one to read them, and re-read them, over and over again to the point where you have every single one memorized, etched into your impressionable brain until it too just stops caring?
Are memories actually memories if they aren't ever recalled? Relived, revisited, recreated, and changed bit by bit upon every subsequent recollection?
Is food food only after its been relished? Because otherwise its just a conglomeration of presumably edible bio-materials arranged on a plate or banana leaf or clay bowl
Staring at you, waiting to be bathed in your saliva
Are hands, really hands even if they haven't worked a day in their lives?
How would you define yourself?
Your coat isn't made of animal fur, but it reeks of corruption, capitalism and cheap labor
Is minimum wage really, truly, MINIMUM?
Because the absolute minimum is probably more like zero
I'm no good at math, so I'd never really properly know
Then again what do I know? I know little, I know very very little
No wonder I have all these questions
And maybe they do too.
What are we making? Coats, gloves, hats, scarves?
If they knew, they'd probably steal one...or maybe two
but sometimes you spend your life, mundane, ridiculous, long weary hours making something so
Incomprehensible, completely unobtainable
If a tree falls in a forest, I'd probably never know.
